What is the difference between dating and courtship?

The conversation about dating and courtships is one people frequently have. Dating and courtship are two methods of beginning relationships with the opposite sex. Many singles, especially I, struggle with dating and are often confused with the concept of courtship. I am 19 and live on my own. My dad says he doesn't want me dating a bunch of guys and keeps saying I should "court.'' What is courting, and is it that much different from dating?

I have found out that dating is casually getting to know a person or persons that you may eventually have a romantic relationship with. It may or may not end up marriage and does not involve parental supervision. There might not be much emotional intimacy. There might also be sexual intimacy. Courting is a but more traditional and it is being romantically involved with someone with the intention of marrying that person. It mostly ends in marriage and may involve parental supervision. It does not involve sexual intimacy
