How do you take of child with any physical or mental health issues?

I want to make sure that, as a nanny, I can take the absolute best care of the child that I am watching. And this includes kids with physical disabilities and mental health issues. The only problem is that I’ve never had to take care of a child with physical or mental health issues. I want to be prepared for everything but right now I’m not. And I’m not even sure where to start. Obviously, I would treat them the same as any other kid that I’ve watched, but it would come with some other things that needed to be taken into consideration. Please help me out with this. I want to make sure I do everything I need to when taking care of a child with any physical or mental health issues.

Taking care of kids with physical or mental health issues isn’t all that different from taking care of kids without them. You want to treat them the same way that you treat any other kid and take care of them the same way unless the parents tell you otherwise. Some kids with physical disabilities will need more help with day-to-day tasks like putting on clothes or going up the stairs. Kids with mental health issues may need you to be extra understanding and extra sweet, or they may need constant supervision. It is important to talk to the parents of any kid with physical or mental health issues to find out if the kids need any special care before the parents leave the house and leave you in charge.
