I can't pick 1. I believe you shouldn't have 1 of these with out the other. Communication/Respect/Trust

Communication with no respect and trust go no where. Either one will ignore the other or pointlessly agree and the problems can negatively escalate over time.

No trust well that = not a healthy relationship. Have all 3 and you might just have found a good partner or at least good foundation.

Similarities, commitment, and ability to compromise. In my experience, these make for successful relationship. My last relationship failed due to my ex not being able to keep his commitment.

It depends on the relationship probably. But communication head and shoulders above anything in my humble opinion, simply because it's sooooo difficult. Anything from "what are you doing?" To "Where do you want to eat?" can just explode in your whole face if you don't have the communication skills to know what's really be asked.
